Easy hacks to prepare strategy for the upcoming exam

By | March 8, 2019

The year is about to end for IGNOU students, the season of examination is about to begin. With the onset of spring and the eventually summers, Indian students are filled with frenzy and anxiety because this is the time when the Date Sheet of Exam begin dotting the notice boards of education institutes. The cool vibe of the college corridors and canteens begins filling with nervous chatter for preparations, notes, and submissions of yearly projects etc. This article presents a few pointers on how to deal with the preparation time without too much stress and sail through the examination smoothly and getting the best results.

  • Get organized!

Now is the time when you should begin collating all your notes and study material and classifying it into categories such as subject wise, unit wise, portion wise etc. and mark it or color code it for easy access. If the marks breakup of the portion is given, sort according to more marks and less, and pay utmost attention to the chapters with more marks.

  • Make a time table and a realistic goal setting strategy

We all have a time table for our studies but this time needs a different one because, at this point in time, one needs to fit in more portion for revision because time is limited. Get realistic with your revision schedule though; back to back study schedule can be counter-productive rather than helping you get better results. Keep time for a short walk and a few minutes between each session for cool down or quiet time in order to give your brain some much-needed rest.

  • Get started where you dread it!

Always tackle what you find tough, first. Do what is easy in the last. This keeps your motivation up and fresh mind can deal with boring or tough subjects better than a tired one. Get the harder ones out of the way, before you can relax and end on a happy note with the liked subjects.

  • Solve old exam question papers and mock tests

Even if your portion is not complete, solve old papers in order to get a hang of the test. The pattern of the questions, repeatedly asked questions, mark breakup and section wise understanding would develop as a result and this is a good way to build your expectations from the exam.

  • Use technique based learning rather than rote

Rote takes you nowhere if you don’t understand it, there is no point. But memorizing techniques and emotional connections with the study will make the exam simpler to sail through. Even if you have to learn by rote, never do it mindlessly.

Last but not least, keep up the spirits by expecting a good exam and even better vacation time after the end of the exam. You can keep the positive vibe going by planning something fun for the post-exam vacations. We wish you all the very best for your examinations and hope these strategies benefit you.
